C’est Patrick, Bien Sur

Patrick Biancone won’t participate in the Breeders’ Cup as a trainer but he is here at Monmouth Park with the horses he recently transferred to his former assistant, Francois Parisel.
Lisa Underwood, executive director of the Kentucky Horse Racing Authority, said she had received several phone calls from people wanting to know if Biancone is permitted in the barn area. The answer is yes — for now. His one-year suspension for prohibited medications does not begin until Nov. 1.
Meantime, Biancone has been quite visible here, although he has agreed to be invisible to the public, on the two Breeders’ Cup days. The six horses he transferred to Parisel for Breeders’ Cup races are Cosmonaut (Mile), Danzon (Filly & Mare Turf), La Traviata (Filly & Mare Sprint), Irish Smoke (Juvenile Fillies), Nownownow (Juvenile Turf) and Slew’s Tiznow (Juvenile).
As the racing writer for the Lexington Herald- Leader, I have won three Eclipse Awards in thoroughbred racing, three Hervey Awards in harness racing, and I have had a lifetime of working with horses, on the track and in the show ring. But most of all, I simply enjoy horses. The opportunity to write about them has been a true gift.
